How to Hang LED Strip Lights Without Damaging Wall [A Quick Guide]

There’s a new type of light on the market that is quickly gaining in popularity – LED strip lights.

These lights are perfect for accenting areas in your home or office, and they can be installed very easily. In fact, you don’t even need to hire an electrician to do the job!

But before you start shopping for LED strip lights, there are a few things you need to know. One of the most important things is how to hang them without damaging your walls.

If you’re not careful, it’s easy to damage your walls when hanging LED strip lights. The adhesive that is used to attach the lights to the wall can be very strong, and if you’re not careful, it can pull the paint off your wall, or peel off sections of wallpaper.

With that said, here are a few tips on how to hang LED strip lights without damaging your walls.

Step One: Clean the Area

The first step is to clean the area where you’ll be attaching the lights. This is important for two reasons.

The first is because you’ll want to make sure that the adhesive will stick firmly to the wall. But secondly, and equally importantly, you want to make sure it won’t grip onto any residue that will take off paint when you come to remove the LED strip down the line.

Use a mild soap and water solution to clean the area (or a pre-made solution such as this), and then let it dry completely. If you’re hanging the lights on the wallpaper, you may want to use a mild alcohol-based cleaner to make sure that the wallpaper is clean and free of oils.

Step Two: Test the Adhesive

The next step is to test the adhesive.

Most LED strip lights come with an adhesive backing, but it’s always a good idea to test it before you actually apply it to the wall.

To test the adhesive, apply a small strip of lights to an inconspicuous area of the wall. Let it sit for a few hours, and then check to see if it’s still in place. If it is, you’re good to go.

If not, you may need to find a different type of adhesive or another method of hanging the lights. We have an article explaining how to get LED lights and their adhesive off the wall here should you need it.

Step Three: Apply the Adhesive

Once you’ve tested the adhesive and you’re sure it will work, you can apply it to the wall.

Start at one end of the area where you want to hang the lights, and slowly peel back the adhesive backing as you apply the lights to the wall.

And that’s it!

Now you know the best way to hang led strip lights in your bedroom. With these three simple steps, you can easily hang LED strip lights without damaging your walls.
